Pizza & Ice Cream

Next up my favorite day - you guessed it pizza and ice cream! Pizza is by far my fav food, so we are having it for lunch and dinner…

First up, Jimmy’s Pizza Café in Ravenswood – Jimmy’s is NY style pizza. My uncle Dominic is a chef in NY and always talks about how “different” their pizza is then Chicago. Their pizza is sooooo huge! Like bigger than my head! I ordered plain cheese, my dad ordered their Signature White pizza (I don’t like ANYTHING on it) and my grandpa ordered the pepperoni (don’t eat that either)… We couldn’t wait to eat this pizza. It smelled DELICIOUS when they handed me my own little triangle box. So, cool. Have you ever seen pizza handed out like that before?

I obviously recommend going to get the cheese pizza, but honestly, the crust is so good, I would try any of the pizzas – well besides their Signature and Pepperoni. BEST CRUST EVER!!!

You would think that after eating a piece of pizza the size of my head that I would be done with pizza for the day, WRONG. Later on, we drove down south to Vito & Nick’s Pizzeria on Pulaski. This is a totally different pizza than Jimmy’s Pizza Café. It is super thin. Like potato chips thin. I could not wait.

We ordered a whole pizza to-go. We went with a half and half pizza because I love cheese (DUH!) and my dad wanted Chicago style - Sausage, Green Pepper, Onion and Mushroom (he always has to be so complicated). The workers here were so funny. They joked the whole time and made fun of my Dad and made waiting worthwhile.

After our pizza was boxed, we took it for a ride home. But, before we made it home to eat our potato chip pizza, we had to make a stop for more ice cream at The Original Rainbow Cone (thank you, DAD!). WHOA! WHAT A TREAT! They are very well known and nearly everyone goes there for their Rainbow Ice Cream cone. This is another small ice cream shop with only outdoor seating. When we pulled up, there were only a few people in line, so it moved pretty quickly (we didn’t want our pizza to get cold!). Time to order… The Rainbow Cone has five flavors – first, chocolate (my fav!); next, strawberry (I like that); then, vanilla (like that, too); then, pistachio (meh – not for me); finally, there is orange sherbet (I can’t wait to eat that). When complete, it looks just like the RAINBOW (mind blown emoji). Like I said already, WHAT A TREAT. I love this place. I cannot wait to go back in the summer!
